Abstract
The present invention is directed to wound healing scaffolds cografted with a population of stem cells, wherein the population of stem cells are ABCB5+ stem cells. The scaffolds are, for instance, collagen glycosaminoglycan scaffolds.
Claims28
A wound healing scaffold comprised of a collagen glycosaminoglycan scaffold cografted with a population of stem cells, wherein at least 80% of the population of stem cells are ABCB5+ stem cells.
A wound healing scaffold comprised of a collagen glycosaminoglycan scaffold cografted with a population of ABCB5+ ocular stem cells, wherein the cell population is free of non-ocular cells.

A method for tissue engineering, comprising seeding a biological tissue scaffold with ABCB5+ stem cells and maintaining the scaffold under conditions such that tissue is formed.
35-36. (canceled)
A method for promoting wound healing, comprising contacting a wound with the wound healing scaffold comprised of a collagen glycosaminoglycan scaffold cografted with a population of ABCB5+ stem cells, wherein the ABCB5+ stem cells are isolated from the eye.
