Abstract
The present invention refers to a novel in vitro method for detecting anti-senescence or pro-senescence activity of a compound, and to compounds with anti-senescence activity detected by said method, in particular to Salvia Haenkei extracts, and to compositions comprising said extracts.

A cosmetic composition comprising:
- a Salvia haenkei extract and one or more cosmetically acceptable carriers.
A method for preparation of a Salvia haenkei extract, the method comprising:
- (a) providing a dry extract of Salvia haenkei leaves, stalk, and/or flowers;
- (b) subjecting the dry extract of (a) to one or more steps of extraction by organic solvent;
- and
- (c) totally or partially eliminating the organic solvent from the extract obtained in (b).

A method for preparation of a natural extract from Salvia haenkei, the method comprising:
- macerating fresh or dried leaves, flowers, and/or stalk of Salvia haenkei in vegetable oil or glycerine;
- or extracting fresh or dried leaves, flowers, and/or stalk of Salvia haenkei by steam distillation with mineral or thermal water.
