Hair care device

A hairbrush for use in untangling hair, comprising:

• a body portion;
• a plurality of substantially parallel flexible bristles projecting from the body portion;
• the plurality of bristles including shorter length bristles and longer length bristles arranged in alternating linear rows of longer length bristles and shorter length bristles;
• the shorter length bristles configured to bend at a distance from the body portion defining a first ratio of the length of the shorter length bristle;
• the longer length bristles configured to bend at a second distance from the body portion defining a second ratio of the length of the longer bristle;
• the second distance greater than the first distance and the second ratio greater than the first ratio.

A method for manufacturing a hair brush, comprising:

• forming a body portion including a plurality of substantially parallel flexible bristles projecting therefrom;
• the plurality of bristles including bristles of relatively shorter and longer length bristles;
• the longer length bristles and the shorter length bristles arranged to alternate in adjacent linear rows between shorter and longer length bristles;
• and
• forming the longer and shorter length bristles to each be tapered and bendable proximate their free ends, whereby the point at which the shorter length bristles bend does not occur as close to their free ends as the point of bending of the longer length bristles, after adjusting the relative closeness by a ratio of the length of the shorter length bristles and the longer length bristles;
• the bristles thereby bendable when the longer bristles are engaged with tangled hair, to thereby be configured to dispose a free end of the longer bristles proximate a free end of the shorter bristles and to release tangled hair engaged by the longer bristles into engagement with the shorter bristles, to thereby untangle hair.
