Generating a customized highlight sequence depicting multiple events

A computer program product for generating a customized highlight sequence for presentation to a user, comprising:

• a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium;
• and
• computer program code, encoded on the medium, configured to cause at least one processor to perform the steps of:
• obtaining source content comprising a representation of at least a portion of a plurality of events;
• automatically identifying occurrences within the events;
• automatically determining an excitement level for each of at least a subset of the identified occurrences;
• automatically prioritizing the automatically identified occurrences based on one or more criteria, wherein at least one of the criteria comprises the determined excitement levels;
• automatically and based on the prioritization, selecting a subset of the occurrences for inclusion in the customized highlight sequence;
• and
• causing an output device to output the customized highlight sequence comprising the automatically selected subset of occurrences.

A system for generating a customized highlight sequence for presentation to a user, comprising:

• a processor, configured to:
• obtain source content comprising a representation of at least a portion of a plurality of events;
• automatically determine an excitement level for each of at least a subset of the identified occurrences;
• automatically identify occurrences within the events;
• automatically prioritize the identified occurrences based on one or more criteria, wherein at least one of the criteria comprises the determined excitement levels;
• and
• automatically and based on the prioritization, select a subset of the occurrences for inclusion in the customized highlight sequence;
• and
• an output device, coupled to the processor, configured to output the customized highlight sequence comprising the automatically selected subset of occurrences.
