Abstract
A printing apparatus includes a receiving unit which receives print data, an operating unit which receives a print instruction from a user, a display unit which displays a password entry screen for receiving a password entry from a user, and a printing unit which receives a print instruction from a user through the operating unit and prints print data without accepting a password through a password entry screen if a password added to the print data is matched with a fixed password and print data to be printed if a print instruction from a user is received through the operating unit, if the password added to the print data is matched with the fixed password, and if the password received through a password entry screen is matched with the password added to the print data.

A printing apparatus which stores, in a storage unit, data transmitted from an external device and to cause a printer to execute printing of the data based on a print instruction received from a user, the printing apparatus comprising:
- a user authentication unit configured to authenticate a user using the printing apparatus;
- and
- a password input unit configured to request the user to input a password set in the data in a case where the printer is caused to execute printing of the data stored in the storage unit,
- wherein the printing apparatus has a first mode in which input of the password to the password input unit is not required on a condition that a user authentication by the user authentication unit has been successful, and a second mode in which input of the password to the password input unit is required regardless of whether a user authentication by the user authentication unit has been successful
