Abstract
A system that facilitates controlling network access comprises a lookup component that determines a geographic location associated with a public originating IP address, wherein the public originating IP address is associated with a request for dual mode services made by a dual mode client. A comparison component compares the determined geographic location with a retained geographic location associated with the dual mode client and determines whether to enable dual mode services based at least in part upon the comparison.
Claims10
A system to facilitate management of network access through an unlicensed wireless network that includes a broadband endpoint that facilitates communications between a handset and a broadband network, the system comprising:
- a RADIUS (remote authentication dial-in user service) server, including a plurality of internet addresses, configured to assign a unique internet address to the broadband endpoint;
- and
- a network controller component configured to validate the broadband endpoint by comparing the assigned unique internet address associated with the broadband endpoint via which the handset is attempting to access the broadband network with a stored list of internet addresses for access approved broadband endpoints.
A method of controlling network access through an unlicensed wireless network that includes a broadband endpoint that facilitates communications between a handset and a broadband network, the method comprising:
- providing a RADIUS (remote authentication dial-in user service) server, including a plurality of internet addresses;
- assigning, via the RADIUS server, a unique internet address to the broadband endpoint;
- validating the broadband endpoint, using a network controller component, the validating including comparing the assigned unique internet address associated with the broadband endpoint via which the handset is attempting to access the broadband network with a stored list of internet addresses for access approved broadband endpoints.
