Cross-cloud object mapping for hybrid clouds

A method for managing a hybrid cloud computing system comprising a private data center and a public cloud computing system, the private data center managed by a first organization, the first organization being a tenant in the public cloud computing system managed by a second organization, the method comprising:

• receiving a request to deploy a first virtual object in the public cloud computing system, wherein the request comprises an indication that the first virtual object is associated with a second virtual object instantiated in the private data center;
• instantiating the first virtual object in the public cloud computing system;
• assigning a first object identifier to the first virtual object, wherein the first object identifier is unique within the public cloud computing system;
• and
• updating, at the public cloud computing system, a mapping associating the first object identifier with the second virtual object and the first organization.

A hybrid cloud computing system, comprising:

• a private data center managed by a first organization;
• a public cloud computing system managed by a second organization, wherein the first organization is a tenant in the public cloud computing system;
• wherein the private data center is configured to:
• instantiate a first virtual object in the private data center, wherein the first virtual object is assigned a first identifier unique within the private data center;
• instantiate a second virtual object in the public cloud computing system, wherein the second virtual object is assigned a second identifier unique within the public cloud computing system;
• and
• generate a mapping associated with the first virtual object, wherein the mapping comprises the first identifier having a context of the private data center and the second identifier having a context of the public cloud computing system.
