Abstract
An authenticator in a second user device captures a media sample comprising at least one of an audio portion, a video portion or an image portion. The media sample is played on a first user device. The authenticator compares at least a portion of the media sample to a reference media stream to determine whether the portion of the media sample matches the reference media stream. If the portion of the media sample matches the reference media stream, the authenticator determines that the second user device is authenticated and requests a media stream from a media streaming source.
Claims21
A method comprising:
- capturing a media sample comprising at least one of an audio portion, a video portion or an image portion, wherein the media sample is played on a first user device and captured by a second user device;
- comparing at least a portion of the media sample to a reference media stream to determine whether the portion of the media sample matches the reference media stream;
- and
- if the portion of the media sample matches the reference media stream, determining, by a processing device, that the second user device is authenticated
A system comprising:
- a processing device;
- a memory coupled to the processing device, the memory storing an authenticator, executable by the processing device from the memory, to:
- capture a media sample comprising at least one of an audio portion, a video portion or an image portion, wherein the media sample is played on a first user device and captured by a second user device;
- compare at least a portion of the media sample to a reference media stream to determine whether the portion of the media sample matches the reference media stream;
- and
- if the portion of the media sample matches the reference media stream, determine that the second user device is authenticated.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions which, when executed by a processing device, cause the processing device to perform operations comprising:
- capturing a media sample comprising at least one of an audio portion, a video portion or an image portion, wherein the media sample is played on a first user device and captured by a second user device;
- comparing at least a portion of the media sample to a reference media stream to determine whether the portion of the media sample matches the reference media stream;
- and
- if the portion of the media sample matches the reference media stream, determining, by the processing device, that the second user device is authenticated.
