Configuration replication across distributed storage systems

A non-transitory machine readable medium having stored thereon instructions comprising machine executable code which when executed by at least one machine, causes the at least one machine to:

• receive a change in a primary configuration of a primary storage node while the primary storage node is operational, wherein primary data stored in the primary storage node is to be backed up as backup data in a backup storage node, wherein the receive of the change in the primary configuration comprises receive of the change as part of a current periodically scheduled update for a number of changes to a backup configuration based on the primary configuration;
• locate at least one identifier in the change that identifies the primary storage node;
• replace the at least one identifier in the change that identifies the primary storage node with an identification of the backup storage node to create an updated configuration change;
• and
• update a backup configuration of the backup storage node based on the updated configuration change, wherein the updated configuration change comprises a data-dependent change that is dependent on an update to at least part of the backup data to occur prior to updating the backup configuration of the backup storage node based on the updated configuration change.

An apparatus comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a computer readable storage medium having program instructions embodied therewith, the program instructions executable by the processor to cause the apparatus to,
• receive a change in a primary configuration of a primary storage node while the primary storage node is operational, wherein primary data stored in the primary storage node is to be backed up as backup data in a backup storage node, wherein the receive of the change in the primary configuration comprises receive of the change as part of a current periodically scheduled update for a number of changes to a backup configuration based on the primary configuration;
• locate at least one identifier in the change that identifies the primary storage node;
• replace the at least one identifier in the change that identifies the primary storage node with an identification of the backup storage node to create an updated configuration change;
• and
• update a backup configuration of the backup storage node based on the updated configuration change, wherein the updated configuration change comprises a data-dependent change that is dependent on an update to at least part of the backup data to occur prior to updating the backup configuration of the backup storage node based on the updated configuration change.
