Abstract
Apparatuses and methods for determining soft data for fractional digit memory cells are provided. One example apparatus can include a controller to determine states of memory cells of a group of memory cells operated as fractional digit memory cells, and determine soft data based, at least partially, on dimensions to which particular memory cells correspond with respect to the group of memory cells, determined states of the memory cells with respect to a state adjacent a state corresponding to a swapping shell, and whether a particular memory cell is a candidate for swapping.

An apparatus, comprising:
- a soft data component having first and second processing sub-components per dimension, the first sub-component being configured to determine a Probability Mass Function (PMF) associated with a hard read of a memory cell, and the second sub-component being configured to determine soft data from the PMF.
A method, comprising:
- determining, via a controller, states of memory cells of a group of memory cells operated as fractional digit memory cells;
- determining, via the controller, correspondence between memory cells and a position of digits within a data value based, at least partially, on the determined states of the memory cells with respect to a state indicating a swapping shell correspondence;
- and
- determining, via the controller, soft data associated with digits of the data value based, at least partially, on a probability of single-level errors in the determined states of the memory cells,
- wherein correspondence between memory cells and the position of digits within the data value is one of multiple configurations.
A method, comprising:
- determining, via a hard read, a state of each memory cell of a group of memory cells operated as fractional digit memory cells;
- determining, via a controller, a probability mass function (PMF) for a memory cell corresponding to a particular dimension based, at least partially, on the determined states of the memory cells with respect to the group of memory cells;
- and
- determining, via the controller, soft data associated with the memory cell corresponding to the particular dimension based, at least partially, on the PMF;
- wherein the PMF includes a probability of errors in the determined states of the memory cells and another memory cell of the group of memory cells when the memory cell is a candidate for swapping.
