Abstract
Systems and methods are provided for presenting information related to a product offered for sale in response to movement of the product. An example method includes receiving a movement indicator from a tag associated with the product. The movement indicator indicates movement of the product. The movement indicator includes an identifier. The method further includes identifying, in a tag data structure, a presentation device associated with the identifier, and causing information about the product to be displayed at a presentation device located proximate to the tag, whereby the consumer is able to perceive the information about the product.
Claims19
A system for presenting information related to a product offered for sale to consumers at a merchant location, the system comprising:
- a communication hub including a tag data structure;
- a tag associated with a product offered for sale, the tag configured to provide a movement indicator, the movement indicator including an identifier;
- and
- a presentation device coupled to the communication hub, the presentation device disposed proximate to the product offered for sale;
- wherein the communication hub is configured to receive the movement indicator, to identify, in the tag data structure, the product offered for sale based on the identifier, and to cause to be presented, at the presentation device, information related to the product offered for sale.
A method of presenting information about a product to a consumer, based on movement of the product, the method comprising:
- receiving a first movement indicator from a first tag associated with a first product, the first movement indicator indicating movement of the first product, the first movement indicator including a first identifier;
- identifying, in a tag data structure, a presentation device associated with the first identifier;
- and
- causing, by the processor, information about the first product to be displayed at a presentation device located proximate to the first tag, whereby the consumer is able to perceive the information about the product.
A method of informing a consumer about a product offered for purchase, the method comprising:
- detecting a movement indicator associated with a product at a merchant location, the movement indicator indicative of movement of the product and including an identifier;
- identifying and storing data based on the movement indicator to a tag data structure stored in a memory, the data based on the movement indicator and including at least one of a temporal indicator of the movement indicator, a signal strength of the movement indicator, and a direction of movement of the product;
- identifying, by a processor, a presentation device associated with the identifier;
- and
- causing, by the processor, information about the product to be displayed at the identified presentation device, thereby permitting the consumer at the merchant location to perceive the information about the product.
