Abstract
Techniques are disclosed for providing an aggregate key performance indicator (KPI) that spans multiple services and for receiving user adjustment to KPI factors to configure an aggregate KPI (e.g., heath score). The techniques may enable a user to select KPIs and to adjust weights (e.g., importance) associated with the KPIs. The weight of a KPI may affect the influence a value of the KPI has on the calculation of an aggregate KPI value. The techniques may also include the ability to create a correlation search using the selected KPIs and weights so that a notification may be generated when the aggregate KPI value exceeds a threshold.
Claims30
A method, comprising:
- determining values for a plurality of key performance indicators (KPIs) associated with a plurality of services, each KPI indicating an aspect of how one of the plurality of services is performing at a point in time or during a period of time, wherein each KPI is defined by a search query that derives a value for the respective KPI from the machine data associated with the one or more entities that provide the plurality of services;
- receiving a plurality of weights for the plurality of KPIs;
- calculating a value for an aggregate KPI for the plurality of services in view of the weights and values of one or more of the KPIs;
- wherein each service of the plurality of services is provided by one or more entities and each entity corresponding to an entity definition having an identification of machine data from or about the entity;
- wherein a service of the plurality of services is represented by a service definition referencing the entity definition;
- and
- wherein the method is performed by one or more processing devices.
A system comprising:
- a memory;
- and
- a processing device coupled with the memory to:
- determine values for a plurality of key performance indicators (KPIs) associated with a plurality of services, each KPI indicating an aspect of how one of the plurality of services is performing at a point in time or during a period of time, wherein each KPI is defined by a search query that derives a value for the respective KPI from the machine data associated with the one or more entities that provide the plurality of services;
- receive a plurality of weights for the plurality of KPIs;
- calculate a value for an aggregate KPI for the plurality of services in view of the weights and values of one or more of the KPIs;
- wherein each service of the plurality of services is provided by one or more entities and each entity corresponding to an entity definition having an identification of machine data from or about the entity;
- and
- wherein a service of the plurality of services is represented by a service definition referencing the entity definition.
A non-transitory computer readable storage medium encoding instructions thereon that, in response to execution by one or more processing devices, cause the processing device to perform operations comprising:
- determining values for a plurality of key performance indicators (KPIs) associated with a plurality of services, each KPI indicating an aspect of how one of the plurality of services is performing at a point in time or during a period of time, wherein each KPI is defined by a search query that derives a value for the respective KPI from the machine data associated with the one or more entities that provide the plurality of services;
- receiving a plurality of weights for the plurality of KPIs;
- calculating a value for an aggregate KPI for the plurality of services in view of the weights and values of one or more of the KPIs;
- wherein each service of the plurality of services is provided by one or more entities and each entity corresponding to an entity definition having an identification of machine data from or about the entity;
- and
- wherein a service of the plurality of services is represented by a service definition referencing the entity definition.
