System and method for computing and overwriting the appearance of project tasks and milestones

A computer-implemented method for representing events in a project into a project view, the method comprising:

• providing a computer system including a display, non-transient data storage, a processor;
• and an input device;
• storing project data containing a set of data attributes including at least a first data attribute pertaining to one or more events including at least a first event in the non-transient data storage, the first data attribute having at least a first and a second data value;
• providing a set of style rules including at least a first style rule, the first style rule relating a first graphical attribute of a plurality of graphical attributes with the first data attribute, the first graphical attribute having at least a first and a second graphical value;
• the processor applying the first style rule to the first event having the first data attribute with the first data value and rendering a first marker with the first graphical value in the project view along a timeline on the display;
• disassociating the first event from the first data value of the first data attribute and associating the second data value of the first data attribute with the first event;
• and
• the processor applying the first style rule to the first event having the second data value and re-rendering the first marker with the second graphical value of the first graphical attribute in the project view along the timeline on the display.

A computer-implemented method for representing events in a project into a project view, the method comprising:

• providing a computer system including a display, non-transient data storage, a processor;
• and an input device;
• storing project data containing a set of data attributes including at least a first data attribute pertaining to a plurality of events including at least a first event and a second event respectively in the non-transient data storage, the first data attribute having a first data value and a second data value;
• providing a set of style rules including at least a first and a second style rule, the first style rule associating a first graphical value of a first graphical attribute of a plurality of graphical attributes with a first data value of a first data attribute of a plurality of data attributes, and the second style rule associating a second graphical value of the first graphical attribute with a second data value of the first data attribute;
• the processor applying the first style rule to the first event having the first data value of the first data attribute and rendering a first marker with the first graphical value of the first graphical attribute in the project view along a timeline on the display;
• and
• the processor applying the second style rule to the second event having the second data value of the first data attribute and rendering a second marker with the second graphical value of the first graphical attribute in the project view along the timeline on the display.
