Abstract
An assembly and method for installing a viewing window into a single hole in a panel of an enclosure from a single side. A viewing window assembly comprises actuators and attachment members configurable to allow the attachment members to pass through a hole in a panel from a front side. Upon actuation of the actuators, the attachment members may engage one or both of the back surface of the panel and the inner edge of the hole therein in order to secure the window assembly to the panel.
Claims20
A method of installing a viewing window assembly into a hole of a panel of an enclosure, the enclosure defining an inside and an outside of the enclosure, the method comprising:
- providing the viewing window assembly including a frame and an optic;
- inserting, from the outside of the enclosure and without accessing the inside of the enclosure, the viewing window assembly into the hole, the viewing window assembly only penetrating the panel via the hole;
- and
- actuating components of the viewing window assembly from the outside of the enclosure and without accessing the inside of the enclosure, the actuation of the components securing the viewing window assembly to the panel without penetrating the panel other than via the hole and with the viewing window assembly only penetrating the panel via the hole.
(canceled)
A method of installing an infrared viewing window assembly into a hole of a panel of an enclosure, the enclosure defining an inside and an outside of the enclosure, the method comprising:
- providing the infrared viewing window assembly including a frame and an infrared optic;
- inserting, from the outside of the enclosure and without accessing the inside of the enclosure, the infrared viewing window assembly into the hole, the infrared viewing window assembly only penetrating the enclosure via the hole;
- and
- actuating components of the infrared viewing window assembly from the outside of the enclosure and without accessing the inside of the enclosure, the actuation of the components securing the infrared viewing window assembly to the panel without penetrating the enclosure other than via the hole and with the infrared viewing window assembly penetrating the enclosure only via the hole, and the securing of the infrared window assembly to the panel electrically grounding the viewing window assembly to the panel.
