Abstract
The present invention relates to the generation of a chondrocyte using mesenchymal stem/progenitor cells obtained from the amniotic membrane of umbilical cord and therapeutic uses of such chondrocytes.
Claims10
A method of generating a chondrocyte comprising:
- placing umbilical cord amniotic membrane mesenchymal stem cells (UCMC) in a container, and
- culturing the UCMC in a growth medium adapted for the cultivation of chondrocytes.
- permitting the UCM to differentiate into chondrocyte.
A pharmaceutical composition comprising a chondrocyte, the chondrocyte being generated by a method comprising:
- placing umbilical cord amniotic membrane mesenchymal stem cells (UCMC) in a container, and
- culturing the UCMC in a growth medium adapted for the cultivation of chondrocytes.
- permitting the UCM to differentiate into chondrocyte.
A method of treating a cartilage disorder, comprising administering to a subject a chondrocyte that is being generated by a method comprising:
- placing umbilical cord amniotic membrane mesenchymal stem cells (UCMC) in a container, and
- culturing the UCMC in a growth medium adapted for the cultivation of chondrocytes.
- permitting the UCM to differentiate into chondrocyte.
