Abstract
Disclosed herein is a method for preparing amine-boranes.
Claims6
A method for preparing ammonia borane, comprising:
- reacting a stoichiometric amount of sodium borohydride and twice the stoichiometric amount of ammonium salt in tetrahydrofuran (THF) at room temperature, the THF containing about 1% dissolved water.
A method for preparing amine-boranes, comprising:
- reacting a stoichiometric amount of sodium borohydride with a stoichiometric amount of ammonium salt in refluxing THF in the presence of at least one corresponding amine.
A method for preparing amine-boranes, comprising:
- adding a solution of THF containing about a slight excess than stoichiometric amount of water to a mixture, the mixture comprising:
- a slight excess than stoichiometric amount of sodium borohydride;
- a corresponding amine;
- and
- a slight excess than stoichiometric amount of sodium bicarbonate.
