An oral shield device for protecting an area in a patient's mouth, the device comprising:
- a molded body forming a contoured surface;

- a pair of wings extending from the body.

- an oral shield device including:
- a molded body forming a contoured surface;
- and
- a pair of wings extending from the body;

- an elongate handle having at a distal end thereof a connector attached to the device.
