Abstract
A hair styling tool includes a body, a cylinder extending from the body, the cylinder rotatable relative to the body, a motor for rotating the cylinder, a heater to heat the cylinder, and a styling arm pivotally attached to the body. The hair styling tool may have a generally clam shell configuration, wherein the styling arm is movable between an open position in which the styling arm is distant the cylinder and a closed position in which the styling arm is proximate to the cylinder, such as contacting the cylinder. The styling arm may also include a brush head with fixed or retractable bristles and/or a smoothing plate.
Claims16
A hair styling device comprising:
- a) first and second arms, each arm having a distal end and a proximate end, the arms pivotably connected together at their proximate ends to pivot from an open position toward a closed position for hair styling;
- b) a rotatable member supported by the first arm for engaging hair, the second arm being non-rotatable;
- c) a motor for rotating the rotatable member in the closed position;
- and
- d) a controller for controlling the motor in response to engagement of the hair and rotatable member in the closed position.
A hair styling device comprising:
- a) first and second arms, each arm having a distal end and a proximate end, the arms pivotably connected together at their proximate ends to pivot from an open position toward a closed position for hair styling;
- b) a rotatable member supported by the first arm for engaging hair, the second arm being non-rotatable;
- c) a motor for rotating the rotatable member in the closed position;
- d) a switch for automatically causing the rotatable member to rotate as the arms are moved to the closed position from the open position;
- e) a heater for heating the hair in the closed position;
- and
- f) a controller for controlling the motor in response to engagement of the hair and rotatable member in the closed position, wherein the controller comprises a microswitch, the microswitch comprising an actuator for activating the microswitch.
