Abstract
An inbred rice line designated 143007 is disclosed. Seeds of inbred rice line 143007 were deposited under the Budapest Treaty (ATCC Accession PTA-121603), plants of rice line 143007 and methods for producing a rice plant by crossing line 143007 with itself or another rice line are also disclosed. Hybrid rice seeds and plants are produced by crossing inbred rice line 143007 with another rice line.
Claims33
Inbred rice seed 143007, wherein a representative sample of seed was deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-121603.
A method of introducing one or more desired traits into inbred rice designated 143007, wherein the method comprises:
- (a) crossing an inbred rice 143007 plant, from which a representative sample of seed was deposited in the ATCC under the Budapest Treaty (Accession No. PTA-121603, with a plant of another rice line that comprises a desired trait, to produce progeny plants, wherein the desired trait(s) is selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide resistance, insect resistance, modified fatty acid metabolism, modified carbohydrate metabolism, and resistance to bacterial disease, fungal disease and viral disease;
- (b) selecting one or more progeny plants that have the desired trait(s) to produce selected progeny plants;
- (c) backcrossing the selected progeny plants with the 143007 plants;
- (d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that have the desired trait(s);
- and
- (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) three or more times to produce selected fourth or higher backcross progeny plants that comprise the desired trait(s).
A method of producing a hybrid rice seed, wherein the method comprises crossing 143007 plants that are genetically modified to add a desired trait, with a different rice plant and harvesting the resultant hybrid rice seed.
