Contact modeling between objects

Logic encoded in one or more non-transitory computer-readable media that includes code for execution and when executed by a processor is operable to perform operations comprising:

• determining a N→N mapping corresponding to a linear contribution of contact compliance between a first object and a device;
• and then
• simulating the contact compliance as a function of the previously determined linear contribution and a non-linear contribution, the non-linear contribution calculated during the simulating, and the simulating of the contact compliance having an instantaneous change in response to a change in an applied load of the contact compliance;
• wherein the simulating further comprises one or more of:
• accounting for coupling of the first object with both the device and another device in the contact compliance of the first object;
• neglecting contact compliance of the device;
• accounting for coupling coupling between different discretized contact zones separate from the calculating of the value for the bulk compliance
• accounting for the first object being not axisymmetric;
• or
• accounting for the object being a gear, a bearing, a rolling element of a bearing or housing.
