Keyboard filling one screen or spanning multiple screens of a multiple screen device

A method, comprising:

• providing a device having a first and a second touch screens;
• entering a first and a second operating modes;
• in the first operating mode, presenting a virtual keyboard having a plurality of keys, wherein a first portion of the virtual keyboard is presented using a first portion of the first touch screen, and wherein a second portion of the virtual keyboard is presented using a first portion of the second touch screen, wherein the spacing and size of one or more keys of the virtual keyboard are altered to accommodate the line separation between the first and second touch screens for display of the virtual keyboard spanning both the first and second touch screens, wherein in the first operating mode the presentation of the virtual keyboard is modified to include aligning one or more keys of the virtual keyboard to span the first and second touch screen;
• and
• in the second operating mode, presenting the virtual keyboard with a third and a fourth portions, wherein the third portion of the virtual keyboard is presented in substantially all of the first touch screen, wherein the fourth portion of the keyboard is presented in a second portion of the second touch screen, wherein the second portion of the second touch screen is less than all of the second touch screen, wherein in the second operating mode, the virtual keyboard is an interleaved type spacing and the spacing, and size of one or more keys of the virtual keyboard are reconfigured to accommodate for the line separation between the first and second touch screens.

A device, comprising:

• a first screen, the first screen including a touch sensitive display area;
• a second screen, the second screen including a touch sensitive display area;
• memory;
• a processor;
• application programming stored in the memory and executed by the processor, wherein the application programming is operable to:
• in a first operating mode, display of a virtual keyboard having a plurality of keys, using a first portion of the touch sensitive display area of the first screen and using a first portion of the touch sensitive display area of the second screen, wherein the spacing and size of one or more keys of the virtual keyboard are altered to accommodate the line separation between the first and second touch screens for display of the virtual keyboard spanning both the first and second touch screens, wherein in the first operating mode the presentation of the virtual keyboard is modified to include aligning one or more keys of the virtual keyboard to span the first and second touch screen;
• and
• in a second operating mode, display of the virtual keyboard in substantially all of the first touch sensitive display area of the first screen and using a second portion of the touch sensitive display area of the second screen, wherein the second portion of the second screen is less than all of the second screen, and wherein in the second operating mode, the virtual keyboard is an interleaved type spacing, and the spacing and size of the one or more keys of the virtual keyboard are reconfigured to accommodate for the line separation between the first and second touch screens.
