Abstract
Various embodiments relate to apparatuses and methods of using light transmission thought compressed living tissue to detect force. Transmission of light through living tissue such as a finger is affected by how much the tissue is compressed, for example by the finger being pressing on a surface. Light is introduced into the tissue, passes through the tissue, and a sensor receives the light exiting the tissue. The compression of the tissue can be determined using various characteristics of the received light, such as the light intensity, as determined based at least partly on sensor readings.
Claims22
An apparatus comprising:
- a light sensing device;
- and
- a processing device configured to determine an amount of force applied to matter by living tissue based at least in part on one or more characteristics of light, wherein the one or more characteristics of the light are determined after the light passed though the living tissue.
A computing system comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- a memory coupled to the processor and storing instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the computing system to perform operations including:
- receiving data from a light sensing device after the light sensing device received light that passed through living tissue, wherein the data indicates one or more characteristics of the light that passed through the living tissue;
- and
- determining an amount of force applied to matter by the living tissue based on the data.
Dependencies are inferred from the claim text.
