Abstract
A concrete tie is provided for joining together adjacent slabs of concrete. The tie includes a flat center portion which sits upon the subgrade, and opposite end portions which are inclined upwardly to extend into the concrete when the concrete is poured. The ties are made of a non-corrosive material to eliminate concrete spalling. The ties are formed as a continuous loop, with curved opposite ends.
Claims18
A concrete tie for joining together adjacent slabs of concrete poured on a subgrade to form a joint between the slabs, the tie comprising:
- a loop of non-corrosive material having a flat central portion configured to be sitting upon the subgrade while the concrete is poured and further configured to reside between the subgrade and the concrete after the concrete is poured, and angled portions inclined upwardly from opposite ends of the flat central portion so as to extend above the subgrade and reside within the poured concrete.
A system for joining two adjacent slabs of concrete, the system comprising:
- a longitudinal joint separating the two adjacent slabs;
- a plurality of longitudinally spaced ties extending transversely across the longitudinal joint and into the concrete of each of the two adjacent slabs to tie the two adjacent slabs of concrete together;
- and
- wherein each tie has a center section beneath the longitudinal joint and opposite left and right ends angled upwardly into the concrete of each of the two adjacent slabs.
