Abstract
Systems and methods for processing biological fluids are disclosed. The systems and methods use a reusable hardware unit and a disposable fluid processing circuit that mounts onto the reusable hardware unit. The system and method, under the direction of a pre-programmed controller allow for automatically, opening one or more flow paths to effect addition of one or both parts of an additive solution to a biological fluid component.
Claims25
A system for processing a biological fluid comprising:
- a) a reusable hardware unit comprising:
- i. two or more container-holders,
- ii. a flow path opening device associated with at least one of said two more container holders,
- iii. a controller for actuating said flow path opening device at a selected time;
- b) a disposable fluid processing circuit comprising:
- i. at least three containers wherein one of said containers contains a first part of an additive solution and another of said containers contains a second part of an additive solution,
- ii. an openable flow path joining said at least three containers, and
- iii. a flow blocker in said openable flow path.
