Provided is novel catalyst for treating NOx in an exhaust gas, wherein the catalyst comprises a metal promoted high SAR zeolite having an AFX framework.

A catalyst for treating exhaust gas comprising a metal loaded zeolite having an AFX framework and a silica-to-alumina ratio (SAR) of about 15 to about 50.
A catalyst washcoat comprising a metal loaded zeolite having an AFX framework and a silica-to-alumina ratio (SAR) of about 15 to about 50 and one or more binders selected from alumina, silica, ceria, zirconia, titania, and combinations thereof.
A method for treating an exhaust gas comprising the step of contacting a mixture of an SCR reductant and a NOx containing exhaust gas with a catalyst comprising a metal loaded zeolite having an AFX framework and a silica-to-alumina ratio (SAR) of about 15 to about 50, wherein said contacting reduces at least a portion the NOx into nitrogen and water.
