Abstract
The present invention concerns compounds derived from the anaesthetic propofol that are useful as analgesics and methods of using the same. The compounds act as co-activators of strychnine-sensitive glycine receptors and may have greater activity at those glycine receptors than at GABAA.

A method to treat pain in a subject in need thereof comprising:
- providing a compound of general formula I:
- wherein R3 is a halogen;
- wherein one or two of R1, R2, R4 and R5 is an alkyl comprising between 2 and 13 carbon atoms and the others are H;
- and
- administering the compound to the subject in need thereof, so as to treat pain in the subject.
