Channelization Procedure for Implementing Persistent ACK/NACK and Scheduling Request

A method comprising:

• receiving a configuration for a common logical resource space comprised of a plurality of time-frequency resources and code resources, wherein the common logical resource space is split within physical resource blocks and thereby comprises a first portion for a first type of signaling and a second portion for a second type of signaling, said first portion and said second portion partially overlapping, and said second portion being at the end of the configured common logical resource space, wherein the first type of signaling comprises at least one of persistent acknowledgement signaling and scheduling request signaling, wherein the second type of signaling comprises dynamic acknowledgement signaling, and wherein the first type of signaling and the second type of signaling share a common, staggered channelization structure;
• receiving an allocation of resources of the common logical resource space for the at least one of persistent acknowledgment signaling and scheduling request signaling, based on the configuration of the common logical resource space;
• receiving a signal of the space indicative of the first portion;
• and
• determining a location of the beginning of the second portion from the space of the first portion,
• wherein a resource index for the first type of signaling is received explicitly via higher layer signaling or radio resource control signaling.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a program instructions executable by an apparatus for performing operations, said operations comprising:

• receiving a configuration for a common logical resource space comprised of a plurality of time-frequency resources and code resources, wherein the common logical resource space is split within physical resource blocks and thereby comprises a first portion for a first type of signaling and a second portion for a second type of signaling, said first portion and said second portion partially overlapping, and said second portion being at the end of the configured common logical resource space, wherein the first type of signaling comprises at least one of persistent acknowledgement signaling and scheduling request signaling, wherein the second type of signaling comprises dynamic acknowledgement signaling, and wherein the first type of signaling and the second type of signaling share a common, staggered channelization structure;
• receiving an allocation of resources of the common logical resource space for the at least one of persistent acknowledgment signaling and scheduling request signaling, based on the configuration of the common logical resource space;
• receiving a signal of the space indicative of the first portion;
• and
• determining a location of the beginning of the second portion from the space of the first portion,
• wherein a resource index for the first type of signaling is received explicitly via higher layer signaling or radio resource control signaling.

An apparatus comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• at least one memory including computer program instructions, the at least one memory and the computer program instructions being configured, with the at least one processor, to cause the apparatus at least to perform:
• receiving a configuration for a common logical resource space comprised of a plurality of time-frequency resources and code resources, wherein the common logical resource space is split within physical resource blocks and thereby comprises a first portion for a first type of signaling and a second portion for a second type of signaling, said first portion and said second portion partially overlapping, and said second portion being at the end of the configured common logical resource space, wherein the first type of signaling comprises at least one of persistent acknowledgement signaling and scheduling request signaling, wherein the second type of signaling comprises dynamic acknowledgement signaling, and wherein the first type of signaling and the second type of signaling share a common, staggered channelization structure;
• receiving an allocation of resources of the common logical resource space for the at least one of persistent acknowledgment signaling and scheduling request signaling, based on the configuration of the common logical resource space;
• receiving a signal of the space indicative of the first portion;
• and
• determining a location of the beginning of the second portion from the space of the first portion,
• wherein a resource index for the first type of signaling is received explicitly via higher layer signaling or radio resource control signaling.
