Peer group diagnosis detection method and system

A system comprising:

• a computer readable medium storing satellite profile information;
• and
• at least one processing device operably coupled to the computer readable medium, the at least one processing device executing instructions to:
• determine a beam profile including a plurality of satellite beam characteristics;
• determine a peer group of satellite terminals;
• determine terminal profiles for the satellite terminals, each terminal profile including a plurality of terminal characteristics;
• determine a normalized baseline profile for the peer group, the normalized baseline profile including a plurality of normalized terminal characteristics;
• receive measured operational statistics of the satellite terminals in the peer group;
• convert the measured operational statistics into normalized operation statistics using the terminal profiles and the normalized baseline profile;
• determine normalized peer group operational statistics including at least a mean and a standard deviation of at least two normalized operational statistics;
• determine, for each satellite terminal, a normalized deviation of the at least two normalized operational statistics;
• compare the normalized deviations for each satellite terminal to a threshold deviation;
• and
• diagnose each satellite terminal as at least one of good, degraded, and bad.

A method comprising:

• determining a beam profile including a plurality of satellite beam characteristics;
• determining a peer group of satellite terminals;
• determining terminal profiles for the satellite terminals, each terminal profile including a plurality of terminal characteristics;
• determining a normalized baseline profile for the peer group, the normalized baseline profile including a plurality of normalized terminal characteristics;
• determining at least one normalized peer group operational statistic including at least a mean and a standard deviation of the at least one normalized operational statistic;
• receiving measured at least one operational statistic of at least one satellite terminal in the peer group;
• converting the measured at least one operational statistic into a normalized operation statistic using the terminal profile for the at least one satellite terminal and the normalized baseline profile;
• determining, for the at least one satellite terminal, a normalized deviation of the at least one normalized operational statistic;
• comparing the normalized deviation for the at least one satellite terminal to a threshold deviation;
• and
• diagnosing the at least one satellite terminal as at least one of good, degraded, and bad.
