Retail triggered device configuration setup

A computing device, comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• a memory having instructions stored thereon, which when executed by the one or more processors, cause the computing device to perform operations including:
• receiving, at an established network device on a network, a communication including an indication that a new network device has been acquired at a retailer, wherein the new network device is associated with the network;
• receiving a communication including new network device data, the new network device data including identification information associated with a new network device and a request for the new network device to join the network;
• transmitting an authorization query, the query including the identification information associated with the new network device and a new request to authorize the new network device to join the network;
• receiving a response to the authorization query, the response including an indication that the new network device is authorized to join the network;
• and
• transmitting network credentials to the new network device.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having instructions stored thereon, which when executed by a computing device, cause the computing device to:

• receive, at an established network device on a network, a communication including an indication that a new network device has been acquired at a retailer, wherein the new network device is associated with the network;
• receive a communication including new network device data, the new network device data including identification information associated with a new network device and a request for the new network device to join the network;
• transmit an authorization query, the query including the identification information associated with the new network device and a new request to authorize the new network device to join the network;
• receive a response to the authorization query, the response including an indication that the new network device is authorized to join the network;
• and
• transmit network credentials to the new network device.
