A method for sharing media by using a downloader mobile device, the method comprising:

• sending, to an application server, a request for media associated with a location;
• receiving a results summary including a status of a digital media file, wherein the status of the digital media file includes a capture time of the media associated with the location;
• displaying the results summary;
• and
• receiving a selection of the digital media file in the results summary.

A method for sharing media by using an uploader mobile device, the method comprising:

• receiving, from an application server, an inquiry for media near a location of the uploader mobile device;
• capturing a media near the location of the uploader mobile device by electrically converting an optical image into a digital representation of the optical image;
• generating a digital media file that includes the digital representation and metadata, wherein the metadata includes a capture time of the media;
• and
• sending the digital media file to the application server.
