Abstract
Systems and methods for separating fluids from drill cuttings. Specifically, the invention relates to shakers that incorporate a vacuum system and methods of operating such systems to effect a high degree of fluid separation. The system and methods are effective across a variety of screen sizes, vacuum flows and vacuum designs.
Claims18
A method of retro-fitting a shaker to include an air vacuum system, the air vacuum system for improving the separation of drilling fluid and drill cuttings on the shaker, the method comprising the steps of:
- a. installing a vacuum frame and manifold over screen support rails of a shaker;
- b. installing a screen on the vacuum frame and manifold;
- and,
- c. securing each of the support rails, vacuum screen and manifold and screen together.
A manifold for retro-fit connection to a shaker having a screen support system, the screen support system for supporting at least one screen within the shaker, the screen support system within the shaker including side rails for supporting corresponding sides of the at least one shaker screen within the shaker, the manifold for enabling a vacuum pressure to be applied to the underside of a screen operatively supported by the screen support system, the manifold comprising:
- a body for collecting and conveying liquids recovered from the underside of a screen, the body having at least one outlet for operative connection to a vacuum system and an upper surface for engagement with the underside of a screen;
- and
- supports on the body for engagement with the screen support system, where the body is supportable on the side rails.
