Abstract
The invention provides compositions for treating or preventing T1D (T1D), the compositions comprising one or more antigen presenting cells (APC) that have been pulsed with one or more bacteria and/or components of the bacteria, wherein the bacteria or their components confer upon the APCs the ability to inhibit the generation of diabetes-promoting T cells. The subject invention also provides a method of treating or preventing T1D in a subject, the method comprising administering APC that have been pulsed with one or more bacteria and/or components of the bacteria and wherein the bacteria or their components confer upon the APCs the ability to inhibit the generation of diabetes-promoting T cells.

A composition for treating or preventing type 1 Diabetes (T1D) in a subject, the composition comprising an antigen presenting cell (APC) pulsed with a bacterium or a component of the bacterium, wherein the bacterium or the component of the bacterium confers upon the APC the ability to inhibit the generation of diabetogenic T cells in the subject.

A method of treating or preventing T1D, the method comprising administering to the subject an APC contacted with an antagonist of expression and/or activity of SOCS1 protein, wherein contacting the antagonist of SOCS1 protein confers upon the APC the ability to inhibit the generation of diabetogenic T cells.

A composition for treating or preventing an autoimmune disease in a subject, the composition comprising an antigen presenting cell (APC) pulsed with a bacterium or a component of the bacterium, wherein the bacterium or the component of the bacterium confers upon the APC the ability to inhibit the generation of T cells promoting the development of the autoimmune disease in the subject.
