Abstract
A system for detecting when a credit card is withdrawn, or otherwise becomes missing, from a user's wallet and for alerting the user when he has moved a certain distance away from his original location without replacing the card.
Claims22
A wallet configured to accommodate a set of multiple credit cards, said wallet including:
- a card reader mounted in said wallet for recognizing when a credit card is missing from said wallet and for storing reference location data describing the physical location of said wallet when the card became missing.
A system useful in combination with a wallet configured to accommodate a set of credit cards where each card carries unique identification data, said wallet including:
- contactless reader means in said wallet for reading the identification data for all cards in said wallet to recognize when a card is absent from said wallet;
- processor means for determining the current physical location of said reader means;
- and
- storage means for storing the identity of any absent card along with reference information describing the wallet's reference location when the card was recognized as absent.
Apparatus useful in combination with a wallet for accommodating multiple smart cards and having at least one panel supported for hinged movement between a wallet open and a wallet closed position, said apparatus comprising:
- a circuit board adapted for removable mounting on said wallet panel, said circuit board including:
- contactless reader means for detecting the absence of a smart card from a predefined set of smart cards;
- and
- means for determining the displacement of said wallet from a physical location at which the smart card absence was detected.
