Abstract
The present invention is directed to one or more anchors that can be used to stabilize various types of animal traps to the ground. The invention comprises a clamping structure having at least two holes formed therein. The holes are axially aligned and formed in the top and bottom members of the structure. The invention further comprises a stake for anchoring the invention and trap to the ground. The clamping structure is designed to engage an edge or flange of an animal trap by positioning the flange in a groove in the structure and securing the structure to the flange using a threaded fastener such as a set screw. A threaded stake may be secured to a flange of the trap to anchor and stabilize the trap on the ground.
Claims14
An anchor for stabilizing an animal trap comprising:
- a clamping structure for receiving a flange of the animal trap, said structure having an upper member and a lower member, said upper member having a first aperture formed therein and said lower member having a second aperture formed therein;
- a threaded fastener received in said first aperture, said threaded fastener engaging said flange of the animal trap;
- and
- a stake positioned in said second aperture.
The anchor of claim 4 wherein said stake includes a head, said head received in said countersink formed in said second aperture.
An anchor for stabilizing an animal trap comprising:
- a clamping structure for receiving a flange of the animal trap, said clamping structure having a groove formed therein;
- means for securing said flange of the animal trap in said groove;
- and
- a stake secured to said clamping structure.
An anchor for stabilizing an animal trap comprising:
- a rod having a first treaded end and a second pointed end,
- a lower nut received on said first treaded end of said rod, and
- an upper nut received on said first threaded end of said rod,
- wherein said first threaded end of said rod is received through an aperture in a flange of the animal trap after receiving said lower nut,
- wherein said upper nut is received on said first threaded end of said rod after said first threaded end of said rod is received through the aperture in the flange of the animal trap, and
- wherein said upper nut is tightened against the flange to secure said rod to the flange.
A method for stabilizing an animal trap comprising:
- securing a stake to a flange of the animal trap, said clamping structure having a groove formed therein;
- means for securing said flange of the animal trap in said groove;
- and
- a stake secured to said clamping structure.
