Abstract
A method and apparatus are described for controlling the application of Selected Internet Protocol (IP) traffic offload (SIPTO) or Local IP Access (LIPA) services for a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). The SIPTO and LIPA services may be performed over packet data network (PDN) connections. A user of the WTRU may be prompted to accept or reject the usage of the SIPTO or LIPA services. The user of the WTRU may request switching from SIPTO or LIPA services to non-SIPTO or non-LIPA services.
Claims20
A method for use in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:
- transmitting an indication to a network, the indication based on a preference for using a Selected Internet Protocol (IP) Traffic Offload (SIPTO) or Local IP Access (LIPA) service;
- and
- communicating with the network via a connection, the connection including, based on the indication, the use of the SIPTO or LIPA service or not using the SIPTO or LIPA service.
A method for use in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:
- receiving a packet data network (PDN) connection request from a network, the PDN connection request identifying a PDN connection that is using Selected Internet Protocol (IP) Traffic Offload (SIPTO) or Local IP Access (LIPA) services;
- and
- transmitting a message to the network, the message indicating a preference regarding the PDN connection that is using SIPTO or LIPA services.
A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising:
- a receiver configured to receive a packet data network (PDN) connection request from a network, the PDN connection request identifying a PDN connection that is using Selected Internet Protocol (IP) Traffic Offload (SIPTO) or Local IP Access (LIPA) services;
- and
- a transmitter configured to transmit a message to the network, the message indicating a preference regarding the PDN connection that is using SIPTO or LIPA services
