Systems and methods for recording content from a different source when previous content runs over

A method for modifying a scheduled recording, the method comprising:

• scheduling a recording of a first media asset from a first content source, wherein the first media asset is scheduled for transmission at a start time from the first content source, and wherein the start time of the first media asset follows a scheduled end time of transmission of a second media asset from the first content source;
• monitoring content associated with the second media asset to generate textual information;
• determining, based on the generated textual information, that a content source from which the first media asset was originally scheduled to be transmitted at the start time has been changed from the first content source to a second content source;
• and
• modifying the scheduled recording of the first media asset to record the first media asset from the second content source instead of the first content source.

A system for modifying a scheduled recording, the system comprising:

• control circuitry configured to:
• schedule a recording of a first media asset from a first content source, wherein the first media asset is scheduled for transmission at a start time from the first content source, and wherein the start time of the first media asset follows a scheduled end time of transmission of a second media asset from the first content source;
• monitor content associated with the second media asset to generate textual information;
• determine, based on the generated textual information, that a content source from which the first media asset was originally scheduled to be transmitted at the start time has been changed from the first content source to a second content source;
• and
• modify the scheduled recording of the first media asset to record the first media asset from the second content source instead of the first content source.
