Abstract

A multi-layer video decoder is configured to determine, based on a list of triplet entries, whether the multi-layer video decoder is capable of decoding a bitstream that comprises an encoded representation of the multi-layer video data. The number of triplet entries in the list is equal to a number of single-layer decoders in the multi-layer video decoder. Each respective triplet entry in the list of triplet entries indicates a profile, a tier, and a level for a respective single-layer decoder in the multi-layer video decoder. The multi-layer video decoder is configured such that, based on the multi-layer video decoder being capable of decoding the bitstream, the multi-layer video decoder decodes the bitstream.

Dependent claims

A method of decoding multi-layer video data, the method comprising:

determining, based on a list of triplet entries, whether a multi-layer video decoder is capable of decoding a bitstream that comprises an encoded representation of the multi-layer video data, wherein each respective triplet entry in the list of triplet entries indicates a profile, a tier, and a level for a respective single-layer decoder in the multi-layer video decoder;
and
based on the multi-layer video decoder being capable of decoding the bitstream, decoding, by the multi-layer video decoder, the bitstream.

A device for decoding multi-layer video data, the device comprising:

one or more computer-readable storage media configured to store the multi-layer video data;
and
one or more processors configured to:
determine based on a list of triplet entries, whether a multi-layer decoder is capable of decoding a bitstream that comprises an encoded representation of the multi-layer video data, wherein each respective triplet entry in the list of triplet entries indicates a profile, a tier, and a level for a respective single-layer decoder in the multi-layer video decoder.

A device for decoding video data, the device comprising:

means for determining, based on a list of triplet entries, whether the device is capable of decoding a bitstream that comprises an encoded representation of the multi-layer video data, wherein each respective triplet entry in the list of triplet entries indicates a profile, a tier, and a level for a respective single-layer decoder in the device;
and
means for decoding, based on the device being capable of decoding the bitstream, the bitstream.

A computer-readable data storage medium comprising instructions stored thereon that when executed cause a multi-layer video decoder to:

determine, based on a list of triplet entries, whether the multi-layer video decoder is capable of decoding a bitstream that comprises an encoded representation of the multi-layer video data, wherein each respective triplet entry in the list of triplet entries indicates a profile, a tier, and a level for a respective single-layer decoder in the multi-layer video decoder;
and
based on the multi-layer video decoder being capable of decoding the bitstream, decode the bitstream.
