Coverage for transmission of data apparatus and method

A non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon for causing a suitably programmed computer to execute a method for insuring delivery of an electronic document from a sending remote client to a recipient remote client over a communications network that is connected to a server system, the method comprising:

• electronically receiving, into the server system over a connection to the communications network, an insurance request from a requestor to insure delivery of the electronic document;
• electronically receiving, into the server system, a first copy of the electronic document to be delivered;
• electronically transmitting a second copy of the electronic document from the sending remote client to the recipient remote client;
• determining that the recipient remote client is unable to open the second copy of the electronic document at the recipient remote client's location and based on that determination, providing the recipient remote client with electronic access to the first copy of the electronic document from the server system;
• concluding, via the server system, that the electronic document was not successfully received;
• and
• compensating the requestor an insured coverage amount because of the concluding that the electronic document was not successfully received.

A method in a data processing system for insuring delivery of an electronic document from a sending remote client to a recipient remote client over a communications network that is connected to a server system, the method comprising:

• electronically receiving, into the server system over a connection to the communications network, an insurance request from a requestor to insure delivery of the electronic document;
• electronically receiving, into the server system, a first copy of the electronic document to be delivered;
• electronically transmitting a second copy of the electronic document from the sending remote client to the recipient remote client;
• determining that the recipient remote client is unable to open the second copy of the electronic document at the recipient remote client's location and based on that determination, providing the recipient remote client with electronic access to the first copy of the electronic document from the server system;
• concluding, via the server system, that the electronic document was not successfully received;
• and
• compensating the requestor an insured coverage amount because of the concluding the electronic document was not successfully received.
