Information search system and method

An information search method comprising:

• receiving an event from an application interface, wherein the application interface is presented on a display of a computing device;
• in response to receiving the event, extracting a query from content displayed within the application interface;
• searching for information from an information source using the query;
• and
• displaying an information layer within the application interface such that the information layer overlies existing objects on the application interface,
• wherein the information layer comprises an information item which indicates information found by the searching for information.

An electronic apparatus comprising:

• a user interface configured to receive a command and display content;
• a query extractor configured to extract a query from the content displayed on the user interface in response to the user interface receiving the command;
• a searching unit configured to perform a search of information related to the displayed content based on the extracted query and to generate the related information;
• and
• an overlay display unit configured to generate an information layer comprising the related information and to display the information layer over the displayed content.
