Abstract
There is provided an apparatus that can prevent invoking of unintended functions in gesture operation. The apparatus displays gesture functions executable by movement of touch position, and when movement of touch position satisfies a first condition, confirms executable gesture functions to display confirmed functions. When the movement of touch position satisfies a second condition after the confirmation, the apparatus cancels the confirmation. When the touch input is released in the confirmed state, the apparatus executes the confirmed functions, and when the touch input is released in the canceled state, control does not execute gesture functions.

A display control apparatus comprising:
- an input unit configured to detect a touch input onto a touch panel type display unit;
- a display processing unit configured to display information on the display unit;
- and
- a display control unit configured to perform control to, if a trajectory of the touch input detected by the input unit while the information is displayed on the display unit is a part of a gesture operation among a plurality of gesture operations, hide the information displayed on the display unit and display, on the display unit, guidance regarding gesture operation candidates that are gesture operations likely to be determined by continuation of the touch input among the plurality of gesture operations.
A method for controlling a display control apparatus, the method comprising:
- detecting a touch input onto a touch panel type display unit;
- displaying information on the display unit;
- and
- performing control to, if a trajectory of the touch input detected while the information is displayed on the display unit is a part of a gesture operation among a plurality of gesture operations, hide the information displayed on the display unit and display, on the display unit, guidance regarding gesture operation candidates that are gesture operations likely to be determined by continuation of the touch input among the plurality of gesture operations.
