An apparatus comprising at least one processor and at least one memory including computer program code, the at least one memory and the computer program code are configured to, with the at least one processor:
- generate a Bluetooth™ Low Energy data packet comprising audio payload data;
- wherein the apparatus is configured to generate the data packet to include an indication of a codec for playback of the audio payload data and/or audio settings for controlling playback of the audio payload data.
An apparatus comprising at least one processor and at least one memory including computer program code, the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor:
- decode a received Bluetooth™ Low Energy data packet wherein the data packet includes an indication of the codec needed to decode the data packet;
- and
- generate an audio payload data for audio output.
A method comprising generating a Bluetooth™ Low Energy data packet comprising audio payload data and an indication of the codec needed to decode the packet data stream.
A non-transitory computer media that contains program code instructions that when executed by a processor cause a device to generate a Bluetooth™ Low Energy data packet stream that contains audio data and additionally an indication of which codec is needed to decode said data.
