Abstract
According to one embodiment of the invention, a non-transitory computer readable medium for handling the failure of a controller within a communications network is provided. One embodiment of the non-transitory computer readable medium comprises instructions that cause a secondary network device to identify one or more multicast streams received by a primary network device and detect that the primary network device has failed; and responsive to detecting that the primary network device has failed, cause the secondary network device to subscribe to the multicast streams.
Claims13
A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions which, when executed by one or more hardware processors, causes performance of operations comprising:
- identifying, by a secondary network device, one or more multicast streams received by a primary network device;
- detecting, by the secondary network device, that the primary network device has failed;
- responsive to detecting that the primary network device has failed, subscribing to the multicast streams by the secondary network device.
A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions which, when executed by one or more hardware processors, causes performance of operations comprising:
- transmitting, between a first networking device and a second networking device, a set of current conditions for coordinating transmission of a multicast stream to an access point, wherein coordinating the transmission by the first networking device and the second networking device comprises dynamically switching between (a) the first networking device transmitting the multicast stream to the access point and (b) the second networking device transmitting the multicast stream to the access point;
- detecting, by the first networking device, failure of the second networking device;
- responsive to detecting failure of the second networking device:
- transmitting, between the first networking device and a third networking device, the set of current conditions for coordinating transmission of the multicast stream to the access point, wherein coordinating the transmission by the first networking device and the third networking device comprises dynamically switching between (a) the first networking device transmitting the multicast stream to the access point and (c) the third networking device transmitting the multicast stream to the access point.
