Abstract
To provide methods of forming fluorescence-producing organometallic complexes which can ensure high durability when used in organic electroluminescence devices. For example, a compound 106 is prepared in accordance with the following reaction scheme.
Claims13
A method of forming a compound having a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic 5-membered ring as a partial structure of a ligand through the use of metal-metal exchange reaction,
- wherein the compound is represented by the following formula (1) and formed by allowing a compound represented by the following formula (1a) to react with a compound represented by the following formula (1b):
- wherein Q represents an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal, an alkaline earth metal halide, a trialkyltin, zinc or a zinc halide, which each may further have an arbitrary organic group as a substituent;
- A11, B11 to B11 and D11 to D13 have the same meanings as A11, B11 to B14 and D11 to D13 in the formula (1), respectively;
- [L11kM11(μ-Y)]2 (1b)
- wherein the formula (1b) stands for a bridged metal dimmer;
- Y is F, Cl, Br, I, OR13, R13COO, SR13 or N(R13)2;
- each of R13s is independently a hydrogen atom, an aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms or an aromatic hydrocarbon group;
- k is 2 when M11 is Ir, while k is 1 when M11 is Pt;
- L11 and M11 have the same meanings as L11 and M11 in the formula (1), respectively;
- and
- wherein M11 represents Ir or Pt;
- each of A11s independently represents a nitrogen atom or a carbon atom;
- each of B11 to B14 independently represents a nitrogen atom or C_R11, R11 represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent and each R11 may be the same as or different from every other R11,
- each of D11 to D13 independently represents an atom selected from carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, sulfur and silicon;
- each of the bonds between atoms in the 5-membered ring formed from D11 to D13, A11 and an N atom represents a single bond or a double bond;
- each of D11 to D13 may have a substituent as long as it can undergo further substitution;
- L11 represents atoms forming a bidentate ligand;
- and
- n represents an integer of 1 to 3 and m represents an integer of 0 to 2, provided that n+m is 2 or 3.
