Abstract
In some embodiments, an inductor may include a core formed from a plurality of segments and having a plurality of discrete gaps and a winding encircling the plurality of segments so as to substantially enclose the core.
Claims20
An inductor, comprising:
- a magnetic core formed from a plurality of segments and having a plurality of discrete gaps, each gap being arranged between a pair of adjacent segments;
- and
- a winding encircling the plurality of segments so as to substantially enclose the core.
An inductor, comprising:
- a core having a substantially rectangular cross-section with a center, the core having a circular shape with a circular axis arranged at the center of the cross-section, the core comprising a plurality of segments of laminated construction and a plurality of radially extending gaps each arranged between pairs of the plurality of segments;
- and
- one or more coils wrapped around the rectangular cross-section of the core to form a toroid winding having an axis substantially aligned with the circular axis of the core, wherein the winding substantially encloses the core.
A device, comprising:
- an inductor, comprising:
- an inductor core formed from a plurality of segments and having a plurality of discrete gaps arranged between a pair of adjacent segments;
- and
- an inductor winding encircling the plurality of segments so as to substantially enclose the core.
