Abstract
A system includes a first device to select and transmit a first code by a transmitter to a remote device; the remote device implements a sequence detector based on the first code; the transmitter in the first device generates a first sequence based on the first code; the sequence detector in the remote device detects the first sequence and activates the mechanism based on the detection; the first device may be a smartphone or a smart watch.
Claims20
A method for activating a mechanism by one or more signals representing one or more symbols, comprising:
- activating a first device containing a transmitter to retrieve a first code from a plurality of codes in a memory on the first device, the first code determining a first shift register based sequence generator on the first device to generate the first sequence of symbols;
- transmitting the first code by the transmitter in the first device to a receiver in a second device that is spatially separated from the first device;
- the receiver in the second device receiving the first code;
- configuring on a processor in the second device a sequence detector in a first configuration, the first configuration is retrieved, based on the first code, from a plurality of detector configurations stored in a memory on the second device;
- generating the first sequence of symbols by the first shift register based sequence generator and transmitting the first sequence of symbols by the transmitter in the first device;
- the receiver in the second device receiving the first sequence of symbols;
- processing the first sequence of symbols received by the receiver in the second device by the sequence detector in the first configuration on the processor in the second device;
- and
- activating the mechanism in the second device when a presence of the first sequence of symbols is detected by the sequence detector in the first configuration on the processor in the second device.

A system to activate a mechanism by one or more signals representing a plurality of symbols, comprising:
- a first device including a transmitter and a memory storing a plurality of codes, each code determining a configuration of a sequence generator to generate a sequence of symbols and a processor, the processor being configured to retrieve instructions from the memory to perform the steps:
- selecting a first code in the memory and transmitting the first code by the transmitter;
- retrieving, based on the first code, a first configuration of the sequence generator from the memory to implement the sequence generator on the processor;
- generating a first sequence of symbols by the implemented sequence generator in the first configuration for transmission;
- and
- a second device including a receiver, a memory storing a plurality of sequence detector configurations, each sequence detector configuration being determined by a code, a mechanism enabled to be activated by the processor, and a processor on the receiver, the processor on the receiver being configured to retrieve instructions from the memory to perform the steps:
- receiving the first code from the transmitter and retrieving, based on the first code, a first sequence detector configuration from the memory on the second device to implement a sequence detector on the processor on the second device;
- receiving the first sequence of symbols from the transmitter;
- processing the first sequence of symbols from the transmitter by the implemented sequence detector;
- and
- activating the device when a presence of the first sequence of symbols is detected by the implemented sequence detector.

A smartphone to wirelessly activate a mechanism in a remote device by one or more signals representing one or more symbols, comprising:
- a memory storing a plurality of codes, each code determining a configuration of a sequence generator to generate a sequence of symbols, a processor and a transmitter and an antenna, wherein the processor is configured to retrieve instructions from the memory to perform the steps:
- selecting a first code in the memory, the first code representing a first configuration of a sequence generator;
- providing the first code for transmission by the transmitter to transmit via the antenna to the remote device;
- retrieving, based on the first code, the first configuration of the sequence generator from the memory to implement the sequence generator on the processor;
- and
- generating by the implemented sequence generator a first sequence of symbols for transmission by the transmitter via the antenna to the remote device to activate the mechanism.
