Abstract
Disclosed herein are technologies for remote debugging in mobile web applications using a platform-independent debugging proxy server. Particularly, the debugging proxy server acts as an intermediary by fetching and performing instrumentation on a requested webpage by a target browser. This Abstract is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims.
Claims20
A method of cross-platform remote debugging in mobile web applications, the method comprising:
- enabling a debugging mode;
- fetching, by a proxy server, a webpage in response to the enabling;
- performing, by the proxy server, instrumentation on the fetched webpage to create an instrumented webpage;
- receiving and loading the instrumented webpage into a target browser, wherein the proxy server acts as a middleware between the target browser and a website that stores the webpage;
- and
- debugging the loaded instrumented webpage in the target browser, wherein the debugging is implemented through the proxy server.
A device that facilitates cross-platform remote debugging in mobile web applications, comprising:
- a target browser that requests to load a webpage;
- a proxy server that fetches the webpage, the proxy server performs instrumentation of the fetched webpage and forwards the instrumented webpage to the target browser;
- a debugger user interface (UI) that debugs the instrumented webpage, wherein the debugger UI implements the debugging through the proxy server;
- and
- a development tool that facilitates a connection between the debugger UI and the proxy server.
One or more computer-readable media storing processor-executable instructions that when executed cause one or more processors to perform operations that facilitates cross-platform remote debugging in mobile web applications comprising:
- enabling a debugging mode, wherein the enabling includes requesting a webpage to load into a target browser;
- fetching, by a proxy server, the webpage in response to the enabling;
- performing, by the proxy server, instrumentation on the fetched webpage;
- receiving and loading the instrumented webpage into the targe browser;
- and
- debugging the loaded instrumented webpage in the target browser, the debugging is implemented through the proxy server.
