An electrophotographic photosensitive member includes a support and a photosensitive layer formed on the support. The photosensitive layer contains a phthalocyanine crystal in which a particular amide compound is contained.

An electrophotographic photosensitive member comprising:
- a support;
- and
- a photosensitive layer formed on the support,
- wherein the photosensitive layer comprises a phthalocyanine crystal in which an amide compound is contained, and
- wherein the amide compound is at least one selected from the group consisting of a compound represented by the following formula (1), a compound represented by the following formula (2), and a compound represented by the following formula (3),

A method for producing a phthalocyanine crystal in which an amide compound is contained, the method comprising:
- a crystal transformation step of subjecting the amide compound and a phthalocyanine to a milling treatment to perform crystal transformation of the phthalocyanine,
- wherein the amide compound is at least one selected from the group consisting of a compound represented by the following formula (1), a compound represented by the following formula (2), and a compound represented by the following formula (3),
