Abstract
Metathesized triacylglycerol green polyols and their related physical and thermal properties are disclosed. Such metathesized triacylglycerol green polyols are also used as a component of polyurethane applications, including polyurethane foams.
Claims25
A composition comprising a solvent free polyol derived from palm oil based metathesized triacylglycerols.
A flexible polyurethane foam composition comprising:
- (i) at least one solvent free polyol composition derived from a palm oil based metathesized triacylglycerols component;
- (ii) at least one polyisocyanate component, wherein the ratio of hydroxy groups in the at least one polyol to isocyanate groups in the at least one polyisocyanate component is less than 1;
- (iii) at least one blowing agent;
- (iv) at least one cell stabilizer component;
- and
- (v) at least one catalyst component.

A rigid polyurethane foam composition comprising:
- (i) at least one solvent free polyol composition derived from a palm oil based metathesized triacylglycerols component;
- (ii) at least one polyisocyanate component, wherein the ratio of hydroxy groups in the at least one polyol to isocyanate groups in the at least one polyisocyanate component is less than 1;
- (iii) at least one blowing agent;
- (iv) at least one cell stabilizer component;
- (v) at least one cross-linking agent;
- and
- (vi) at least one catalyst component.
