Modified glycidyl carbamate resins

A solvent-based coating composition comprising an alcohol-modified glycidyl carbamate compound of formula (I), (II), (III), or (IV):

• wherein:
• R2 is independently an optionally substituted, divalent C1-C15 alkyl, an optionally substituted divalent C3-C15 cycloalkyl, or a divalent substituent selected from the group consisting of
• X represents either the glycidyl group:
• or an alkyl group based on an alcohol, represented as:
• wherein at least two of the X moieties are represented by the glycidyl group;
• n ranges from 1-50;
• m ranges from 1-15;
• and
• R3 is independently an optionally substituted C1-C22 alkyl.
