Abstract
Methods of using certain kinase inhibitors for treating Gram positive bacterial infections are disclosed. When co-administered with a β-lactam antibiotic, the disclosed compounds increase the susceptibility of infectious Gram positive bacteria to the β-lactam antibiotic. The disclosed kinase inhibitors have either of the general formulas: or the specific formula:
Claims15
A method of treating a Gram positive bacterial infection in a subject in need thereof, comprising administering to said subject an effective amount of a compound having the chemical structure:
- (a)
- wherein one of R1 and R2 is H;
- wherein the other of R1 and R2 is —OX, wherein X is selected from the group consisting of
- wherein R3 is selected from the group consisting of —CH2CH3,
- and wherein R4 is selected from the group consisting of
- (b)
- (c)
- wherein R5 is H or
- wherein R6 is H or —CF3;
- and
- wherein R7 is selected from the group consisting of
- (d) a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of any of the structures shown in (a), (b) or (c);
- whereby the Gram positive bacterial infection is reduced in said subject.
A compound having the formula:
- wherein R1 is selected from the group consisting of
- R2 is selected from the group consisting of —CH3,
- R3 is selected from the group consisting of
- wherein if R2 is —CH3, then R3 is not
- or a salt thereof.
A compound having the formula:
- wherein R1 is selected from the group consisting of:
- or a salt thereof.
